The society is registered with the registrar of societies J&K Govt. under No. 130 of 1970 renewed to 7417 of 2021. VMS was established in 1970 with the aim
to be excellent in Comprehensive Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities
to provide Education and Care to Persons with Disabilities
to provide Employment Opportunities to Persons with Disabilities
irrespective of caste, color, religion or region. VMS is dedicated and determined to the Care, Treatment and Rehabilitation of Physically, Mentally, Visually Disabled Persons including persons challenged with Speech & Hearing impairment irrespective of any bias.
VMS founded by Prof. Dr. Mir Mohammad Maqbool, the then HOD ENT Department GMC Srinagar with due support from likeminded Doctors, Colleagues and Friends started its journey with the identification of Physically Challenged persons by visiting the far-flung and remote areas of the valley and reaching out to them for treatment. Assistive Devices were provided to the needy at their door steps and those needing hospitalization or surgery were referred and shifted to hospitals for medical procedures.
