Our mission is to empower rural communities by strengthening people's capacities, encouraging participation, and creating sustainable opportunities for inclusive development.
RARE was founded in 1994 by a group of socially committed professionals who believed that meaningful development begins with inclusion, dignity and equal opportunity. What started without infrastructure or financial resources has evolved into a respected civil society organisation driven by integrity, innovation and community participation.
Over the years, we have pioneered several community-led initiatives, including early identification of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, strengthening Public Distribution Systems through Panchayati Raj Institutions, and promoting accessible water and sanitation facilities for elderly persons, pregnant women and persons with disabilities.
We believe that sustainable development is achieved by empowering people to become leaders of change. Our commitment remains focused on democratic values, decentralized decision-making and creating opportunities for the most vulnerable sections of society.
