North Bengal Handicapped Rehabilitation Society was established in the year of 1988, Since 1990 special School for the hearing impairment was established and I.D. with C. P. student was also included in the Special School renamed as UTTARAN. B.ED ( Spl. Edu.- ODL ) under Netaji Subash Open University and D. Ed. ( Spl. Edu.) under Rehabilitation Council of India, Govt. of India was started since 2005 and 2011 respectively.
Along with school for CWSN , we are also running vocational unit named “Shristi” where CWSN are taught candle making, tailoring , embroidery and other handicraft.
Games and sports along with studies have always been our priories. Much Number of our students has represented India in Table tennis and athletics in International arena. Our students have represented West Bengal in National games also. We have successfully hosted 2 National Athletic meet for Deaf and one National Table Tennis Championship for Deaf along with number of Zonal Sports meet for the Disable.
