On January 1, 2005, the NGO “Bhai Kanhaiya Manav Sewa Samiti” was founded in Sirsa, Haryana, by Bhai Gurvinder Singh. It later evolved into the “Bhai Kanhaiya Manav Sewa Trust.” The organization’s primary mission is to aid homeless, helpless, and destitute individuals who are enduring challenging phases in their lives. To fulfill this mission, the trust established the “Bhai Kanhaiya Ashram,” a residential home for destitute individuals. Here, they provide essential services such as medical treatment, food, clothing, care, and other necessities, all funded by public support and offered without any charges.
The trust’s journey began with the distribution of milk to patients at the Civil Hospital in Sirsa on January 1, 2005, with the assistance of local volunteers.
After the successful implementation of the milk service at the Civil Hospital, Bhai Gurvinder Singh aspired to broaden the Samiti’s services into other social domains, particularly in the areas of health and education. As part of this expansion, the trust organized a Blood Donation Camp for patients in need. The inaugural camp took place on August 13, 2006, during which 92 units of blood were collected and donated to the Shiv Shakti Blood Bank in Sirsa. The trust has since conducted 50 blood donation camps, hosting three such events every year, while continuously encouraging new donors to participate in each camp.
The trust also extended its milk distribution service to evening hours for hostel students at the Deaf & Dumb School. Upon arriving to serve milk to the students, volunteers encountered darkness on the school premises. This was a time when electricity cuts were common in Haryana, and the school had no alternative power source besides electricity. In response, the trust extended its helping hand by installing four battery inverters as an alternative power source. To this day, both the milk distribution and electricity supply services continue to thrive.
