The Thakur Hari Prasad Institute of Research and Rehabilitation for the Mentally Handicapped, is a professionally managed premier voluntary organization that has grown over the past 4 ½ decades on the firm foundation of a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation of persons with mental handicap since inception. Its accomplishments since September 16th 1968 encompass many unprecedented initiatives, many sojourns into hitherto untread areas of rehabilitation services. Its philosophy and vision are coherent with its mission and implementation modes. It aims at promoting the quality of life of persons with mental handicap and associated disabilities through a holistic multidisciplinary qualitative service-delivery. The Institute has been accorded special consultative status by United Nations. THPI is recipient of National and International Awards from the President of India & RCI Hong Kong Foundation International and many other awards in recognition of its outstanding performance in the field of Handicapped Welfare. It is the only institute in the field of Mental Retardation honoured with U.G.C. award.
