Government High School for the Blind

In post-independence India, particularly in Kerala, remarkable transformations have occurred to promote educational advancement among the visually impaired. Special schools have been established throughout Kerala through the efforts and interventions of authorities. The first Government School for the Blind was initiated in 1962 in the village of Olassa, Kottayam. In the academic year 2022-2023, this school celebrated its 60th anniversary, achieving remarkable results with visually impaired students attaining a 100% pass rate in the SSLC exams. Considering all the efforts and achievements throughout these years, the school has been honored as the Center of Excellence by the State Government. .
